Margaret Deverson, a longtime resident of Greenwood Lake, NY, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2020 in St. Anthony's Community Hospital in Warwick, NY. She was 76 and surrounded by her family and loved ones.
The daughter of the late Harry and Rose McEwan, she was born on July 26, 1943 in Brooklyn, New York.
She was the widow of Joseph Deverson.
She was a loving woman with no filter which made her one of a kind. She loved her family and friends, playing bingo at the senior center and going on casino trips. She would attend sports events for her grandchildren and would coach from the stands. She loved facetiming her family in Florida and Pennsylvania. She will be missed greatly.
Survivors include her children: Thomas Deverson and his wife, Annmarie of Port St. Lucie, FL, Deborah DeFeo and her husband, Anthony of Jim Thorpe, PA, and Rose Key and her husband, Billy of Greenwood Lake, NY; her brother, Butchie McEwan of Brooklyn, NY; her grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Melissa, Theresa, Kristina, Anthony Jr., Thomas, Jason and Jenna; her great-grandchildren: Mikalah, Lucas, Devin, Ayden, Aryalyn, Gianna, Mila, Mason, and Kamron. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Strong Basile Funeral Home, 4 Oak St., Greenwood Lake, NY.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church in Greenwood Lake, NY. Burial will be in Ocean View Cemetery Staten Island, NY.
As you prepare to attend any of these services please be mindful that FACE COVERINGS and Social Distancing are required at all times at the Funeral Home, Church and Cemetery. Due to NYS guidelines current capacity restrictions may cause delayed entry into the building. Thank you for your understanding.

Aunt Margaret, I always lived the fact that you didn’t pull any punches and told it like it was, at least from your perspective. Hopefully, in heaven you have been reunited with Uncle Joe, your parents, my dad, Uncle Jimmy, Aunt Anna, and Aunt Helen.
