MARVIN SPELL Obituary

September 1, 1935 - August 31, 2010

Liberty, NY

Marvin Spell, a retired food service supervisor for Falls Poultry and a longtime area resident, died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at his home in Golden Park Apartments, Liberty, NY. He was 74.

The son of the late Paul and Effie Gant Spell, he was born September 1, 1935 in Cottageville, SC.

Survivors include one sister, Mary Jane James and her husband, Arthur Seabrook James of Liberty; two sons, Marvin Spell, Jr. and his wife, Iris of Yemassee, SC and James Spell and his wife, Vonda of Madison, WI; one daughter, Marlene Magwood of Jacksonville, NC; two stepdaughters, Wendy Blackman and Sherma Ali, both of Queens, NY; three stepsons: Robert, Dunstan and Trevor Cobham all of Trinidad; a sister-in-law, Sonia Duncan of Brooklyn; 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Lorna Cobham Spell on March 19, 1999.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 7, from 1011 a.m. in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty. Funeral services will be Tuesday, September 7, at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. The Rev. Ruth H. Sellers-Ward will officiate. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery Cold Spring Road, Liberty.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to the Mission Church of God, PO Box 745, Liberty, NY 12754.
