Michele Fuchs Obituary

Middletown, NY

Michele Andre Fuchs, a long-time resident of Middletown, died on Friday, December 28, 2007 at Glen Arden in Goshen, NY. She was 89.

Michele Pluss Fuchs was born and raised outside of Paris, France to Adrienne & Edmond Pluss on June 19, 1918.

Michele was a dynamic and vivacious woman. Before getting married, she traveled throughout Europe as a member of a dancing troop under the professional name "Michele Andre". She met her husband, the late Manny Fuchs during World War II in France, while Manny served in the O.S.S.. They moved to New York City and then to Middletown in the late 1950s, where they lived for the rest of their lives.

She was an active member of the Middletown community; she worked as a volunteer for the Y.M.C.A. and taught French for the Middletown School System. Although Michele and Manny never had any of their own children, they adored the children of their close friends and those children returned that affection. In the 1970s, she took up quilting and quickly became a master quilter, winning many blue ribbons. Michele conducted a quilting studio from her home and taught quilting to many women who became her close friends.

She is survived by: her niece, Christiane Pluss Proville; her sister-in-law, Genevieve Pluss; brother-in- law, Leo Fuchs; and two nephews, Harvey Betan and Alexander Fuchs. In addition to her husband Manny, two brothers, Gerard and Olivier Pluss, predeceased Michele.

Arrangements for a Memorial Service are incomplete and still pending.
