Nellie Rose Swanson

Nellie Rose Swanson, a stenographer at the Goshen Annex Secure Center for 43 years, and lifelong area resident, died Sunday, March 30, 2008 at O.R.M.C., Horton Campus in Middletown. She was 66.

The daughter of Frank and Nellie Lusardi Leo, she was born October 30, 1941 in Middletown. She was predeceased by her much beloved husband, Larry Swanson last year.

She was parishioner of St. Joseph's R.C. Church, and was a member of Women's Bowling Association.

Nellie was the secretary for Local CSEA for the Goshen Annex, she was a poll watcher for many years, as well as having worked for Bob Maxwell, Inc.

She is survived by her son, Larry Swanson, Jr. and his companion, Kathleen O'Neill; her grandchildren: Skyler, Blade, Destiny and Rayzer; her sister, Dolores Barnes and her husband, Robert; her nephew, Charles Sutton, Jr.; her aunt, Helen Lusardi and her godson, Robert Duncanson, as well as several cousins.

A family statement reads: "Our beloved Nellie was like a rose, always open and always loving and will be missed by all who knew her."

Visitation hours will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, April 4, at the Ralston-Lippincott-Hasbouck-Ingrassia Funeral Home, Inc., 72 W. Main St., Middletown, NY.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 5, at St. Joseph's R.C. Church in Middletown, NY. Entombment will be at the Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Middletown, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Nellie's name to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
