Robert L. Cantelmo

Robert L. Cantelmo, 70, a 40-year resident of the area and the retired owner of Cantelmo and Sons Plumbing & Heating in Highland Mills, died Monday, March 12, 2007 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen, N.Y.

Son of the late Cono Vito Cantelmo and Frances Corso Cantelmo, he was born on October 27, 1936 in Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Woodbury Field and Stream Club in Highland Mills, N.Y.

A family statement reads: "A loving husband, father and grandfather who put the needs of those around him before his own."

Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Zukowski Cantelmo of Highland Mills, N.Y.; sons: Robert G. Cantelmo and his wife Mary of Warwick, N.Y.; Louis Cantelmo and his wife Celia of Warwick, N.Y., Richard J. Cantelmo and his wife Kendra of Blooming Grove, N.Y., and Michael Cantelmo and his wife Susan of Blooming Grove, N.Y. and grandchildren: Robert, Louis, Kerianne, Brandon, Zachary, and Michael.

Friends may call Thursday, March 15, 2007 from 7-9 p.m. and Friday, March 16, 2007 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Homes, 515 Route 32, Highland Mills, N.Y.

A funeral mass will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 448 Route 32, Highland Mills, N.Y. with the Rev. John Palaparambil officiating. Burial will be in Cemetery of The Highlands, Highland Mills.
