Scott Coleman Obituary
Our Marine has gone to Heaven. Scott Thomas Coleman of White Lake died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the age of 25.
The son of Nelda Cortez Coleman and Thomas S. Coleman, he was born August 31, 1984 in San Angelo, TX.
A 2003 graduate of Monticello High School, Scott served our country with two tours of duty in the United States Marine Corps in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also an avid skier and former member of the Holiday Mountain Ski Club.
He is survived by his parents, Nelda and Tom Coleman of White Lake; a sister, Rita Coleman of Astoria; his paternal grandmother, Rita Coleman Radzieski of Scranton, PA; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends from all over. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, John F. Coleman and his maternal grandparents, Joe and Janie Cortez.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Broadway and Liberty Street in Monticello, with Fr. John Tran officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Holiday Mtn. Ski Club, 99 Holiday Mtn. Road, Monticello, NY 12701.

I miss Scott as my student in barbering. Cutting layers bothers the strong marine's shoulder. We used to laugh about that. Seneca's father passed also yesterday. God promises peace that passeth understanding. May you and your family receive this healing peace. There were so many at the funeral; I didn,t get to speak to you. God bless you and keep you close.

I was very shocked to hear about this. I haven't been back to Monticello or even remotely close to the area since High School graduation. Scott and I were in many classes together and I feel that we were somewhat close. He was truly an inspiration and this is so hard to comprehend and absorb. My heart goes out to the Coleman family and his closest friends. I lost my grandfather about a year ago, and it is still hard. I can only imagine what you must be going through.
