Steve Horvath Obituary
Born December 11,1929 in Apatisfvanfalva, Hungary to Jozsef Horvath & Anna Bedi Horvath, he was the oldest of 9 children.
Steve immigrated to the United States in January 1957 during the Hungarian Revolution. He worked hard throughout his life to improve the quality of life for his family, most notably working 12 years at his first job at the White Lake Mink Ranch until it closed in 1969. He continued to provide for his family working at Arnel Homes in Monticello, Concord Resort Hotel in Kiamesha Lake, and his last years at the Monticello Middle School until his retirement at the age of 62. Steve enjoyed living a quiet and peaceful life and the simple things in life, including sitting in his backyard enjoying the fruits of his gardening labor, the squirrels, birds, and the neighbor's cat Smokey. He had a wonderful sense of humor and brought joy to the lives of many people.
Steve is survived by his wife of 43 years, Anne Feher Horvath at home; a daughter, Anna Horvath of The Center for Discovery; a son, Joseph Horvath & his wife Dana of Marshall, Va.; a granddaughter, Kelsey; his brothers, Vendel, Zoltan & Sandor of Hungary and Jeno of Switzerland; his sisters, Anna of Union, N.J. and Margit and Marika both of Hungary; and many nieces and nephews, including Steven Molnar of Rock Tavern.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother Josep.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 5 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 401 Broadway in Monticello.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 6 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church, Broadway & Liberty Street in Monticello.
Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Bethel.
