Victoria Goldstein Obituary

Formerly of Middletown, NY

Victoria H. Goldstein, of Hollywood, FL, formerly of Middletown, died Sunday, March 9, 2008 peacefully at Memorial Regional Hospital, Hollywood, FL. She was 80.

She was born in Roscoe, NY on February 5, 1928, the daughter of Harry and Marguerite Steenrod Hood.

Victoria dedicated most of her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, and family. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Middletown and served as a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Queen Ester Chapter #163 Order of the Eastern Star, and Past Mother Advisor for the Order of Rainbow Girls in Middletown, and the Laurel Court #58 Order of the Amaranth, Port Jervis. After moving to the state of Florida, she and Jack owned and operated a Stride-Rite shoe store. She was a Shrinette of the Hollywood Shrine Club and she volunteered at Hollywood Memorial Hospital.

She is survived by her loving husband, John A. 'Jack' Goldstein, whom she married on April 9, 1950; her son, John Goldstein and his wife, Hazel of Greenville; her daughter, Jill A. Gensel of Hollywood; her three grandchildren, Jacquelyn Goldstein and Brian Goldstein of Greenville, and Kristen Gensel of Hollywood; her sister, Joyce and her husband, Peter Ancona Sr. of Punta Gorda, FL; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Thursday, March 13, from 7-9 p.m. at Morse Funeral Home Inc., 33 Railroad Ave., Middletown, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 14, at 11 a.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church, Middletown, NY, with the Rev. Peter Rustico officiating. Interment will follow at Wallkill Cemetery, Middletown, NY.

Donations in Victoria's name may be made to the National Diabetes Foundation, NIDDK, NIH Building 31, Rm 9A06, 31 Center Dr., MSC 2560, Bethesda, MD 20892-2560, St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 391 Mt. Hope Rd., Middletown, NY 10940 or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 58 W. Main St., Middletown, NY 10940.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morse Funeral Home Inc., Middletown, NY; 845-343-6918.
