It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dianne Block, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left us peacefully on January 9, 2025, at the age of 73, surrounded by her loving family. Her life was a beautiful testament to love, kindness, creativity, faith and dedication.
Born on March 8, 1951, in Reed City, Michigan, Dianne graduated from Reed City High School in 1969. Dianne grew up with a passion for nurturing both people and nature. This passion guided her into a 39-year career as a compassionate and dedicated nurse, where she touched countless lives with her care and expertise. Her patients and colleagues often spoke of her gentle spirit, her dedication, and her vast medical knowledge.
Dianne is preceded in death by her parents, Arden and Doris Buss of Reed City. She is survived by her husband, Jerry; children, Matt (Melanie) Block; Sarah (Jeremy) Milarch; Emily Block; grandchildren, Trevor Block, Abigail Milarch, Peyton Block, Eliza Milarch; siblings, Tom (Cindy) Buss, Karen Buss, Mark (Carrie) Buss, Lauri (Greg) Gogolin; and many nieces and nephews.
Outside of her profession, Dianne found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a remarkable green thumb and cultivated breathtaking gardens that were as vibrant and full of life as she was. Whether tending to her blooming flowers, crafting intricate wreaths by hand, knitting, sewing, or helping support the needs of the community, she poured her heart into everything she did, leaving behind creations that brought beauty and warmth to those around her.
Family was the cornerstone of Dianne's life. She shared a deep and enduring love with her husband, Jerry, with whom she celebrated 53 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to Matthew (Melanie), Sarah (Jeremy), and Emily, and a proud grandmother to Trevor, Abigail, Peyton, and Eliza. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and she treasured every moment spent in their company. Dianne planted the seeds of curiosity, creativity, and dedication that will continue to flourish for generations.
Her absence leaves an indescribable void in our lives, but her legacy of love, creativity, resilience, and generosity will live on in all who knew her. We will forever hold her memory close in our hearts and strive to honor the remarkable example she set for us all.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at 10 a.m. at the Honor Congregational Church in Honor, Michigan. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 18th, at 11 a.m. following the visitation at the Honor Congregational Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to BACN (Benzie Area Christian Neighbors), the Honor Food Bank, or the Honor Congregational Church.
