Gretchen E. Amstutz
January 11, 1942 - August 12, 2024
Gretchen Eileen (Mantey) Amstutz passed away August 12, 2024, at the age of 82. After a year without her husband Al, she is reunited with him again. Gretchen was a graduate of Alma College where she met her husband of 60 years. She spent her career as a teacher at Alma Public Schools. She was an active church member, quilter, knitter, gardener, reader, shopper, community volunteer, member of multiple organizations and clubs. She loved music and loved to travel. Every day was a new adventure with Gretchen. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends as well as warmly embracing new friendships. She could always be found at the end of the dock or around a campfire sipping on wine and talking about the day. She will be best remembered for her robust laughter which could be heard throughout Cuambeco Bay on Big Platte Lake, her ability to tell you exactly what she was thinking, her beautiful quilts, and the time she spent with her family. Gretchen is survived by sons Alec (Linda) Amstutz, Andy (Kirsten) Amstutz, daughter Sarah (Brett) Wildfong, grandchildren Zachary (Lauren) Amstutz, Addison (Rosie) Amstutz, Libby Wildfong, Catie Wildfong, Jane Amstutz, Alice Amstutz, and many cousins, nieces and a nephew.
