Lloyd Neal Stevens, Benzonia, died October 15, 2021, at 81 years old. He was born Nov. 28, 1939, in Echols, KY the son of Hazel M. (Rowe) and Frank O. Stevens. Lloyd loved landscape and took great pride in his many flower gardens and ponds. He was a wonderful builder and could fix anything. He loved to serve his community starting with the Army when he was a young man. He led the boy scouts and girl scouts when his son was in school. He became a Pinkerton Security Guard in the late 1970's and became the Assistant Manager of Pinkerton Security for the Northwest region. Lloyd was the lead person to set up security for both Munson Hospital and Northwestern Michigan Community College. In 1989, Lloyd and his wife Jan opened their homes to foster children. There they touched the lives of so many teenagers. By the time they finally retired, and the tallies were in, more than 5,000 children had come in through their home. Lloyd enjoyed teaching the kids how to landscape and many of them started their own landscaping business. He also taught other practical skills like building, and how important their word was. Lloyd's greatest pride was his two children Lloyd Jr and Donna Kaye. He would boast about his two kids to anyone who would listen. After the birth of his children, he found his true calling when they started having children themselves. Lloyd loved sneaking chocolate to his grandchildren sometimes even as they were heading to the dinner table. Though Lloyd was not a perfect man it is safe to say that he was the perfect husband and father for us. He is survived by his wife Janeth A (Deemer) Stevens; daughter Donna Kaye Stevens; grandsons Mitchell Stevens (wife: Andrea), Kyle Stevens (Fiancé: Katie), Neal Stevens and Malcolm Fettes; sisters: Marilyn Irvine (Husband: Ray) and Kaye Hess (Husband: Col Robert Hess); numerous Nieces and Nephews and numerous Foster Children. He was preceded in death by his son Lloyd N Stevens Jr., father Frank O Stevens, mother Hazel M (Rowe) Stevens, sister Faye (Stevens) Salyer. The Stevens family will receive friends for a visitation Thursday, October 21 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at the Jowett Family Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 22, at the Jowett Family Funeral Home with Pastor Caleb Simerson and Pastor Dan Ingersol. Arrangements provided by Jowett Family Funeral Home.
