Known to his friends and family as Art, with his pipe by his side gently passed away in his sleep.
In WW2 Art proudly served his country as a merchant seaman eventually making his way to San Francisco where he met and married Rosalie Liegeois Beckham. The couple had five children Louise, Peter, Joseph, Jean and James.
Art enjoyed his long career with Safeway rising up from the ranks. He proudly would talk about his days as a member of a team of visionaries.
In the early 1970's, Art married his soulmate, Signe Hannomaa Beckham. In 1989 the couple moved to Redding, California and spent their retirement years enjoying the beautiful mountain ridge of Mt. Shasta and Mt. Lassen. In the latter years of Art's life, he enjoyed gourmet cooking, road trips and Alaskan deep sea fishing.
Art wore many hats as a father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and many called him a friend.
A private service will be held at Sunset View Mortuary, El Cerrito, California.
