Bob Moncton Obituary

Bob Moncton
1923 - 2012

Bob Moncton went home to his Lord and savior March 3, 2012 at the age of 88. He was at home surrounded by his beloved daughters. Born in Los Angeles, CA in 1923 to David and Bertie Mae Moncton, Bob grew up a happy boy helping his grandpa in the family grocery market and riding his bike across LA to mow lawns.

He joined the Army in 1942 and proudly served his country in the mechanized cavalry in Germany, earning the Silver Star for Bravery. After discharge he met the love of his life, Millie, at a church function. They married a year later when she was 16. They were together for 62 years until her death in 2009.

He is also preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and grandson Matt. He is survived by his daughters, Jennie Pearson, Cindy Fincher and Marilyn Dunham, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bob owned his own barbershop, hair salons, and then restaurants. He is known in the Redding area for his pizza parlors in Palo Cedro, and is fondly remembered as "Uncle Bob" to many. He also worked as janitor for Country Christian and Redding Christian schools.

He will be lovingly remembered for his love of God and people, his wisdom, wise council and encouragement to others, his laughter and warm personality. He touched our lives and hearts and will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, March 9, 2012 at Little Country Church in Redding. Graveside services and reception to follow.

My daughter attended RCS, and I was able to be a parent volunteer when "Uncle Bob" was a janitor there. He was such a wonderfully cheerful man and truly set an example of Christ living in and through us. I pray that knowing he is reunited with so many loved ones and his beloved Savior will ease the pain of his absence here for his family and friends.

Bob touched my life. As a child, I attended CCS. Bob always had a smile and a kind word, and was "Uncle Bob" to everyone. I am so happy to see that he was surrounded by people who loved him till the end. Blessings to you Bob - may you be sweeping up pea gravel off the playgrounds with a whistle and a smile in Heaven.

Uncle Bob was such a kind a generous man! He always had a smile and something kind to say. Years ago he would show up at work at Country Christian School during the summer months with a smile and pizzas for my kids and me! I'll always remember his kindness!

Jennie and Cindy--Please accept my heartfelt sympathies on the loss of your beloved dad. When I was working with Home Helpers, he and your darling mom were such a delight to be with. Your dad always had such a warm, positive outlook and I will remember them always.

Uncle Bob you were such a wonderful man and a great friend to a little girl who often had to wait after school for a ride. You were so kind to let me tag along. Even though I grew up and moved away. I have never forgotten you.
My deepest sympathies to your family.
