David Fitzpatrick Obituary
1917 -2010
Dave Fitzpatrick passed away after a short illness, at the age of 93 on November 28, 2010.
He was born on September 26, 1917 in Santa Monica, CA.
The Fitzpatrick's came to Redding in 1921. They ranched in the Redding area. He married Mame Cutler in 1939, and then Mary Strawn in 1980. He worked on Shasta Dam, became a partner in McColls Dairy, and sales manager until 1961. He purchased a ranch in Palo Cedro and raised charolais cattle, and was an active cattleman until 1995.
Dave was a active member in the Cattleman's association, Modoc Tribe Ride, 65 years in the Elks. He was one of the original Asphalt Cowboys, Kamloops Club on Shasta Lake. He loved hunting, fishing and golf. He looked forward to coffee and talk each morning with his friends. He enjoyed feeding quail, gray squirrels, deer and turkeys in his back yard.
Dave leaves his wonderful lady friend, Elaine Truesdell, sister Mary Hervin, daughter Lana and husband Jim Chapin, son David and wife Christine Fitzpatrick, step-son Larry and wife Trish Strawn, step-daughter, Irene Goforth. Grandchildren, Kevin, Jeff and Jim MacDonald, Ted and Shane Melott, David Fitzpatrick and Lisa Fitzpatrick Brown. Great-grandchildren, J.D. MacDonald, Jessica MacDonald, Harper MacDonald, Elizabeth Melott, Kelsey Melott, Teddy and Sam Melott, Kristal and Nicole Fitzpatrick, David Brown, Dylan Brown. Great-great-grandson, Zane MacDonald. He was also blessed with many more step-grand and great and great-great-grandchildren from extended family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mayme in 1976, and wife Mary in 1993, daughter Mary Melott in 2008. Step-daughter Mary Strawn Manion in 1990. Brothers, John and Larry Fitzpatrick, sisters Mildred Seale, Cecelia Polley and Margaret Fitzpatrick
