David Edward McCrea, a resident of Cottonwood, passed away on August 23, 2013 in Redding after battling pancreatic cancer. Dave was born on May 25, 1952 in Los Angeles to the late Edward and Doris McCrea. He married his sweetheart, Lynn Marie Bishop, thirty-eight years ago. Together they raised their two sons, Davey and Travis, in Vacaville. Dave and Lynn relocated to Cottonwood seven years ago where they bought their dream home and ranch.

Dave grew up in Napa and graduated from Napa High School in 1970. He attended Napa Community College before serving in the United States Army National Guard as a heavy equipment operator. Dave worked his teen years at Bettencourt Bicycles and Harley Davidson in Napa and then for Kaiser Steel as a pipe fitter.

Dave spent most of his life working for P. G. & E., first as an apprentice lineman, working his way up to journeyman lineman, crew foreman, troubleman, and then progressed to management, where he was instrumental in developing information technology programs for field support services.

Dave was an avid sportsman and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and riding ATVs. For many years he was a member of the Can Duck Club. He was also a private pilot and loved flying.

Dave was a family man. He is survived by his wife Lynn; his sons, Davey and wife Sophia, Travis and girlfriend Jennifer Grinols; siblings and their spouses, June and Robin Malm, Mark and Dina McCrea, Maureen and Mark Tremblay, and Pat and Kelli McCrea. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews; Ryan, Robbie, and Joe Malm, Connor and Maddie McCrea, Sidney Tremblay, and John and Shannon McCrea.

Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, August 28th, 11:00 a.m. at Treadway and Wigger Funeral Home, 623 Coombs Street, Napa, with a reception following at Napa Elks Lodge.
