Ira Deay Obituary

Ira O. "Pete" Deay

Shasta Lake - Ira O. "Pete" Deay of Shasta Lake, CA passed away of natural causes on June 26, 2020. He was born in Kansas on October 7, 1932 to Emery and Fern Deay. The family moved to Compton, California and then to Redding. Pete graduated from Shasta High School in 1950 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1951 to 1953.

Pete married his sweetheart, Carol Grove in 1951 and raised two boys, Micheal and Douglas, during their 53-year marriage. He is survived by son Mike and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by Carol in 2004 and Doug in 2018.

Pete worked for several gas companies over the years including Lassen Gas, Par Gas, Frambes Gas, and Campora Gas. He volunteered in the community in many capacities, serving in Central Valley as Fire Commissioner, Little League coach, and Asphalt Cowboy, and was school board member for Shasta Lake School District.

Pete enjoyed the outdoors, playing softball in his younger years and hunting, fishing, and golfing with friends and family. We will miss him and his loyal support and quick wit.

Due to the current pandemic, no services will be held.

Was friends with Carol and Pete from the time we had our boys from years, just spoke to him a few days before he passed. RIP. Now he can be in heaven with his beloved Carol, my best friend.
