Jeffrey Walling Obituary

Jeffrey Hammon Walling

Jeffrey Hammon Walling, son of Flora (Peg) and Haskell Walling was born on May 19, 1955 in Redding, California and grew up there, attending Pine Street Elementary School, Sequoia Intermediate, NOVA and Central Valley High Schools graduating in 1973. He continued his education at Shasta College and graduated from California State University, Chico in 1980 with a degree in Industrial Arts with emphasis in Metals and Plastics. His professional career as a materials manufacturing engineer began at General Dynamics in San Diego, then Morton Thiokol in Ogden, Utah and continued at Sikorski Aircraft in Connecticut, returning to General Dynamics, and retiring from Siemens Mobility in Sacramento. He was involved with youth baseball as an umpire in his community in San Diego and Folsom, CA for many years until his sight was compromised due to diabetes. Jeff's love of art and music brought him much enjoyment and many ceramic gifts to family and friends. Mr. Walling passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 14, 2020 at his home in San Diego due to heart disease and complications from diabetes.

A loving husband, father, brother, family member and friend, always staying connected to all with frequent phone calls, Jeff is survived by his wife, Wanda of San Diego, son John Pearston and wife Elizabeth, granddaughters Kylie and Kara of Pollock Pines; daughter Christine Gardiner and Husband Kane of El Dorado Hills; sisters Elaine Goodner of Portland, TX and Esther Walling of Torrance, CA, nephews Benjamin Goodner and family of Michigan and Vincent Jefferson and family of Los Angeles.

The remains will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be planned for later in 2021.

Oh - I am so very sorry for your loss of Jeff! We were classmates at CVHS ( was class 1974), and I had the very good fortune of meeting his mom, and sister, Elaine. One of our last conversations was many years ago when he shared his travels to, I think, Nova Scotia. A true gentle-man. My most sincere condolences to his family.
