Richard Hahn Jr. Obituary

Richard Arnold Hahn Jr.
"Pig Pen"

1952 - 2014

Happy Camp resident Richard Arnold Hahn Jr. "Pig Pen", at the age of 61, died March 30th, 2014 doing what he enjoyed the most...cutting firewood. The tree he fell kicked back and instantly took him from us. His wife and daughter were present, his passing was not alone.

Richard was born October 24, 1952, in Yreka, CA to Richard and Yvonne Hahn. He graduated in 1970, from Happy Camp High School and moved to Redding, CA., where he worked for Dr. Chambers in then called Central Valley as an insurance billing clerk. He returned to Happy Camp when he married his high school sweetheart, Judy Lawson, May 27th, 1972. He was employed by the local sawmill starting as an entry-level worker (sticker picker) and rose to lumber grader/quality control when it closed 20 years later. After which he spent two years commuting from Happy Camp to Yreka where he was employed at High Ridge Lumber Company as a grader until it also closed. Finally he settled in as the facility maintenance and groundskeeper at Happy Camp Union Elementary School District where he also served as CSEA Union President. He was looking forward to his retirement in October of this year.

During this same time period he also co-founded and served as National President for the State of Jefferson Brotherhood Motorcycle Club where the five founding members of the Happy Camp Chapter swelled to cover an undisclosed total number of members in over five states and an equal if not greater than number of supporters. Richard took great pride in the club and its motto...One More Won't Hurt!

First and foremost Richard was the beloved husband of Judy for nearly 42 years; a devoted father of two, and a loving grandfather of seven. Being a husband, father and grandfather was an undertaking he took seriously and that gave him immense joy and pleasure.

Richard is survived by his mother, Yvonne Hahn of Montague, CA, sister, Deanna Fisher of Olympia, WA, brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Shelby Hahn of Tigard, OR, sister and brother-in-law Kim Seago and Eric Petersen of Mt. Shasta, CA, his daughter Christina Hahn-Robinson of Happy Camp, his son and daughter-in-law, Richard Lee and Carmynne Hahn of Happy Camp, and his grandchildren, Audra, Christian and Luke Robinson, and Brad, Keelan, Tyler and Savannah Hahn, plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends who know who they are...and last but not least, his precious puppies, Mongo and Puddle.

His memorial service will be held Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 A.M. in the Happy Camp High School Gymnasium. Following the service, a gathering for all who wish to attend will be held at the Happy Camp Grange Hall.

Proceedings are being handled by family and friends with SOJB MC Chaplin Greg Maloney officiating.

Be Still

Be still like the grass on a melancholy summer day
Be still like desert shrub.

Be calm and you will hear your loved one speak, in the stillness, in the calm, their love resounds.

If you are still this promise I make, you will hear the voice of your loved one helping you along your way.

Judy, Christina, Richie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. We remember Richard fondly.

Earl, Alverna, & Tamara
