Susan Zendejas Obituary

Susan Zendejas

Redding, CA

aPRIL 2, 1953 - dECEMBER 22, 2018

Susan Zendejas was born on April 2, 1953 to Moises and Connie Zendejas in Pittsburg, CA. She entered into rest on December 22, 2018 in Redding, CA.

Sue spent her younger years in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School. She moved to Shasta County in 1976 and worked for Simpson Paper Company for 12 years as a sheet roll finisher. After Simpson, she loved being a homemaker and dedicated her life to her husband of 35 years, her kids and grandkids, and to taking care of her mom.

Sue was known by many names: Sue, Susan, Suzie, Suzie Q, Susana Magana, but the name she loved most was Grandma.

You didn't have to know Sue long to know that she always took the time to make family first, and her nieces, nephews, and grandkids were everything to her. She could never tell them no and she made holiday traditions a priority. Whether it was Easter egg dying, 4th of July fireworks watching, Christmas cookie baking, tamale making, or dozens of other activities and traditions, she never missed an opportunity to make amazing memories with and for her family. She was their biggest support and cheerleader and she attended every game, concert, recital, award ceremony, activity and school function that she could.

Sue loved the outdoors and her hobbies included fishing (especially on the ocean), camping, boating, gardening and collecting heart rocks. She loved taking long drives on backroads with her husband, trips to Jamaica and the Caribbean islands, watching sunsets, the ocean, learning about Native American history, reading, and her beloved Raiders. She was a phenomenal cook with many specialties including tamales, meatloaf, the best tacos ever, chocolate cake, and every home-baked dessert you could imagine. She loved canning her dad's secret recipe chilis. She had an amazing gift of accepting people for who they were, where they were, and loving them completely. She loved to laugh and tell stories and she made all who met her feel like they were a part of her family.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Arthur Parham Jr., her children Michelle (and Brad) Reynolds, Lisa Brophy, Toni Franck and Jimbo (and Kim) Brophy and her step-children Wendy Zanotelli (and Tommy) and Shawn Parham (and Natalie Huston). She was a wonderful grandma to her 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and an amazing aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was a beloved daughter to Connie Urenda Zendejas, sister to Ralph (and Diane) Zendejas and Nancy Zendejas Serna. She was a cherished daughter-in-law, sister-in-law, cousin, niece, aunt and friend.

She was preceded in death by her father Moises Zendejas, her son-in-law Scott Franck, and her previous husband Tony (Jim) Brophy.

A celebration of life will be held on January 12th at 2:00pm at Anderson VFW hall. All who knew her are welcome to attend.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association at www.diabetes.org.

We didn't know Sue really well...but we do know that she made Artie exceptionally happy and do not doubt that he and their families will miss her greatly. But the memories they all made together will always be with them.
