Wanda Droscher Obituary

Wanda Fern (Harris) Droscher
June 5, 1919 - December 14, 2012

Wanda Fern (Harris) Droscher passed away at her home on Friday, December 14, 2012 at the age of 93.

Wanda is predeceased by her mother and father, Mamie Jane and Frank George Harris, and her sister Mildred (Harris) Cameron and her daughter, Linda Irene Droscher.

Wanda is lovingly remembered by her daughter Marianne (Droscher) Barickman and son-in-law Jim Barickman, Las Vegas, NV; her son Mark Droscher, Redding, CA; four grandchildren: Noelle (Barickman) Ward, Huntington Beach, CA, Andrew Barickman, Bolingbrook, Ill., Ashlee Droscher Smith, Alexandria, VA, Colby Droscher, San Francisco, CA; and her niece and nephew Dori Cramer of Redding, CA; Michael Layman of Redding, CA and 3 great grandchildren, Luke and Olivia Ward and Cole Barickman.

Wanda was born in Bonne Terre, Missouri on June 5, 1919. Wanda moved to Northern California in 1944 and married Paul Droscher in January 1938. Wanda and Paul started Droscher Equipment in 1949 and she continued to run the company after his death and until 2011.

She was a Shasta County pioneer. Wanda was an avid traveler and had experienced many countries on five continents. When she was not seeing the world, you could find her enjoying a good mystery novel, making her famous clam chowder, or shopping for a great pair of shoes. Wanda was a member of Soroptimist International, Republican Women, Eastern Star, and Advisor for Rainbow Girls and Job's Daughters.

The family has chosen to host a celebration of her life this summer.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shasta County Historical Society.

Not sure what to say?

I lived in Old Shasta next door to the Droschers for approximately seven years. Wanda was always warm, smart and funny. She always had gallons of ice cream from McColls Dairy in her freezer. I will always have fond memories of her as my second mom. Warm regards to the family I am sure they will miss her very much.

In the early 40s, my family and the Harris's were good friends and I remember the many times meeting them at Puddingstone Lake in Southern California for a day of fishing. Then they moved to Northern California settling on Churn Creek and had a nice ranch there. Many years later, I too settled here and enjoyed so much visiting with "Uncle George" and "Aunt Mamie". I did not have the privilege of knowing Wanda in those later years but my workplace rented many pieces of equipment from "Droschers". My heart goes out to the family. Don Canada

Wanda was such a beautiful woman! She was much more than my mother-in-law, she was my friend. She was smart, kind and had a very quick wit! She could talk on every subject and would give her advice when asked for. She will be truly missed by all who loved and cared for her. Until we meet again Wanda, I will always love you!

Mark--

I'm sorry to hear about your mom. I know that there aren't words to lessen grief, so I'll just say that she obviously did a great job as a mother if you're the result. Peace, my friend...
