G.P. Sertic Obituary

"Pat" Sertic 73, a resident of Morrison, CO, passed away peacefully at home on July 10, 2010. He was born November 10th, 1936 in Bisbee, AZ to Roy and Ruth Sertic. He graduated from the University of Redlands in 1960. He was a cheerleader at the university, and was affiliated with the Pi Chi Fraternity. He later went on to earn three master's degrees; he was truly a lifetime learner. He was a teacher in the Redlands Unified School District for many years, having also taught overseas in the Embassy Schools. He was a passionate teacher and was dedicated to his students, always encouraging them to broaden their minds. He was an adventurer and his love of travel took him around the world and gave him a wealth of stories he enjoyed sharing. He volunteered for the San Gorgonio Search and Rescue, and lit smudge pots during the chilly nights in the San Bernardino Valley. He was also an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Woodworking was another favorite pastime. He was preceded in death by his brother Walter Sertic. He is survived by his wife, Susie Cassel Sertic of Morrison, CO; 3 daughters Jennifer Landweer of Lemoore, CA, Julie Wilson of Kailua, HI, and Jill Riggs of Highland, CA; 3 step- children, Todd Clifford of Arvada, CO, Natasha Stetson of Littleton, CO and Jill Whitmore of Highlands Ranch, CO; and 11 grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held in Redlands on Monday, July 26, 2010 from 2-4 p.m. at the Tartan Restaurant, located at 24 E. Redlands Blvd.
