Norma Mullenix Obituary

Norma Jean Mullenix, 82, Stanton, passed away Sunday, Feb. 20, 2022, at her home.
Norma Jean was born June 17, 1939, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of Marshall "Buck" and Mildred Mae (Cummings) Breeden. The family moved to Waterloo when Norma Jean was a young girl. She graduated high school and attended college where she studied business.
Norma Jean worked in the grocery industry while in the Waterloo area. She moved to the Montgomery County area in 1968 and most currently resided northwest of Stanton. Over, the years, Norma Jean worked for Nachurs Plant Food Company, did some custom home painting, worked for CDS where she retired, worked as a Pinkerton security guard for Parker Hannifin, and worked at West Central Development Corporation helping out many community members.
Her hobbies included playing pool, playing cards; listening to music; going to concerts, especially Neil Diamond; and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her horses and ice skating.
Preceding her in death were her parents; daughters, infant, Jackie and Jeanne Johnson; and brothers, Junior Starkey and William Starkey.
Survivors include her children, John Johnson and wife Karol of Savannah, Mo.; Jacqueline "Jackie" Johnson and Pat Jones of Red Oak; Dawn Nelson of Red Oak; and Jerome Prokes of Red Oak; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; special friend Carl Pearce of Stanton; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery.
