John Dworshak, 90, of Renville died Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Olivia Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial was on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville with Rev. Zach Peterson as celebrant. Burial with military honors was in St. Catherine's Catholic Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Visitation was on Friday, September 19 from 5 - 7 p.m. at the church and continued for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Arrangements by Dirks-Blem Funeral Service, Renville.
John Francis Dworshak was born June 26, 1935, in Redwood Falls to Miloyd and Mayme (Wohnoutka) Dworshak. He grew up on the family farm near Bechyn and attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Redwood Falls High School. John served in the United States Army for three years as an electrician. He married Marcia Swoboda in 1959 and they were blessed with five sons. John was a lifelong farmer, helping his father for the first few years. John and Marcia moved to Flora Township where they have resided and farmed since 1959. He was a member of Knights of Columbus, St. Mary's Bechyn, Lions Club, American Legion and Flora Township board for many decades. John enjoyed spending time watching birds, listening to polka music, playing a good game of schnozzle, socializing and was a history buff on WWII. After retiring from farming he could be found in the woodworking shop making an array of different items for the family. He was a lifelong learner and a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Renville.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years Marcia (Swoboda) Dworshak; his five sons: Dean Dworshak of Bechyn, David (and Sandi) Dworshak of Morton, Dennis (and Sue) of Andover, Richard (and Cindy) of North Branch and Duane (and Kelli) Dworshak of New Prague; his 13 grandchildren: Zach, Ashley, Joe, Josh, Dylan, Nathan, Aaron, Ben, Gina, Rachel, Tasha, Alex and Cassie; his 12 great-grandchildren: Sterling, Hayden, Brielle, Kira, Leo, Jasmine, Mina, Henrik, Harper, Mason, Dawson and Daysh, his brother Stanley (and Margaret) Dworshak, sisters-in-law Caren Swoboda and Marlyce Schutte and 14 nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Miloyd and Mayme Dworshak, infant sister Mary Dworshak, brothers-in-law Jerome and Lewis Swoboda and daughter-in-law Donna Dworshak.
