JOHN LENSING

JOHN LENSING 12/08/1959 - 10/03/2025 John August Lensing, 65, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, after an aggressive battle with vascular sarcoma. He fought the cancer resiliently until the very end. John was born on December 8, 1959, to Donald and Jane Lensing. He grew up on the family farm in Wabasso, graduated from Wabasso High School in 1978, and went on to receive a BA in Math & Physics from University of Minnesota-Morris in 1982. John moved to Farmington in 1983 to pursue a career in the grocery business, where he worked as a grocery manager for 14 years. He then spent 28 years as a machinist at Kemps in Farmington and retired earlier this year. John had a deep love and respect for nature. He was a frequent visitor to state parks and the Minnesota Zoo. He was passionate about conservation efforts and had an affinity for bald eagles. John and his daughter Bridget went camping nearly every summer, and over the years, they successfully crafted the perfect grocery list but still managed to struggle getting the tent back in the bag at the end of the week. John was fiercely independent and always true to himself. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic and weak dad jokes. He was so loved and will be deeply missed. John is survived by his daughter, Bridget Lensing; mother, Jane Lensing; siblings, Jerome (Jeri) Lensing, Chris (Bruce) Rohlik, David (Wendy) Lensing, Karen (Jim) Schneider, Marilyn (Carl) Rydberg, and Lori Lensing. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Lensing. A private Celebration of Life was held on October 24 in Farmington.
