Darlene Felton Obituary
Darlene attended Pitt County Schools and graduated from J.H. Rose High School in 1973. Later she furthered her education by attending Pitt Community College and receiving a nursing degree. She was employed with University Nursing Home, Perdue, Greenfield Place and Pitt County Memorial Hospital. When her health began to fail she retired but still had that caring and compassion for anyone she met. Her time was spent with family and friends whom she loved but shopping and cooking kept her busy.
Darlene was preceded in death by a sister, Jessie Marie Short.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Edward Felton; children, Eric Short and wife, Missy, Aaron D. Short and wife, Evon, Johnny G. Short and wife, Daniell; stepchildren, Lloyd Little John, Edward Garrett, Calvin Wilson, Valencia Myrtle and husband, Lemmie, and Tyneshia Wilson and husband, Timothy; sisters, Janice L. Short and Gloria S. Jackson and husband, Jeffery; brothers, Terry L. Short and wife, Connie, Danny R. Short and wife, Roberta, and Willie J. Short Jr. and wife, Felicia; brothers and sisters from Virginia, Willie C. Short and wife, Geraldine, Bobby Short, Patoma Short and Pricilla Short; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank each and everyone for every act of kindness and support shown during our loss.
Visitation will be Saturday from 2-7 p.m. at Blake Phillips Funeral Services. Other times family will receive friends at the home.

To Darlene's Family: I was sadden to hear of the passing of your loved one. I worked with her at Perdue for some years and must say she was a loving person. After she left I lost contact with her. To Gloria, other siblings,and family,
Just wanted to let you know that I am praying for you all today as you say farewell for a little while to Darlene. All I can say is that God will sustain you now and in days to come. Aunt Darlene...........I am truly going to miss you!!! You always had such a beautiful soul and was very compassionate!!! I always looked up to you as a role model. I am so glad that God allowed you to be one of my Aunts. I was one of your "babies" when all of us was living together on Third Street. We used to hang tight and I absolutely loved spending time with you because I loved shopping too. :) I love you, Angel.................... Gone but never forgotten in our hearts!!!!!!
