Dollie Sullivan

Mrs. Dollie Sullivan, 97, went to meet her Savior on Friday, Aug. 5, 2016.
The funeral service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. until the funeral hour.
Dollie was the daughter of Tom and Rosa Sutton, born July 11th, 1919, in the Black Jack area of Pitt County. Dollie lived in the Frog Level area of Pitt County around 60 years. The last few years was spent with her daughter, Rose in Washington, N.C.
Dollie was a devoted mother and was known for her hard working ethics, "Hard work never hurt anyone." She loved life. Being a farm wife she loved her garden, freezing and canning her food. Dollie loved to give away food from her garden. She was a care giver in the Frog Level area and went to church at Piney Grove Free Will Baptist Church.
Dollie was best known for being a great cook and for the big meals served to the family and her friends. She could cook the best fried chicken, collards, and banana pudding you've ever tasted.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip E. Sullivan; her mother and father; sisters, Pete Venters and Hazel Little; and three brothers, Amos Sutton, Davis Sutton and Heber Sutton.
She is survived by her: son, Phillip E. Sullivan Jr. and wife, Linda; daughters, Alice Sullivan and Rose Stirewalt; special friend, Katie Odom, who was like a daughter; grandson, Mark Sullivan and wife, Jeanna; great-grandson, Philip Mark Sullivan; great-granddaughter, Monica Sullivan; four nieces, Brenda Van Dervan, Bobbie McLawhorn, Diane Weathington, and Sandra Pigford; nephew, Cleve Sutton.
