Doris Garrish Obituary

Mrs. Doris Wingate Garrish, 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 17, 2014. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 2:30 pm at Hollywood Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Will Haddock officiating. Burial will follow in Hancock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. A native and lifelong resident of Pitt County, Mrs. Garrish was a graduate of Greenville High School, class of 1954. For more than 44 years, she was employed in the Tobacco industry working for Carolina Leaf Tobacco Co. and retiring from Dimon. She was a longtime member of Hollywood Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, was part of the Womens Ministries, and a member of the Vivian Mills Sunday School Class. Doris will be fondly remembered for her sincere warmth as she was easy to connect with and truly loved others. She was a woman of strong faith and possessed a sweet sense of humor. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, Mrs. Garrish will be greatly missed by many. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Garrish was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Roy Wilson Garrish in 1999; a brother, Joseph Bud Wingate. She is survived by her: sons, Anthony Keith Tony Garrish and wife, Judy, of Simpson, and Monty Glenn Garrish and Steve Myszak, of Wilson; daughters, Lori Jeanine Garrish and Tammy Lynn Williams, of Ayden; grandchildren, Candice G. Williams and husband, Victor, Phillip, Matthew, Amanda and Kayla Williams, Sonny Garrish Myszak, Dakota Williams, Alicia and Mary McCraken; great-grandchildren, Brianna Garrish, Cameron, Kaylee, McKenzie Williams, Rylee Blake, Konner and Kendall Williams, and Trent Enquillado; and sisters, Janie Adams and Violia Harris and husband, Talmadge, all of Greenville. The family will receive friends prior to the service Thursday from 1 pm until the funeral service. Arrangements by Wilkerson Funeral Home & Crematory, Greenville.
