Doris Tulis Obituary

Doris Ann Tulis Greenville - Doris Ann Tulis was born of the late Mrs. Margaret Kallal and Mr. Walter Jobb in Chicago, IL on December 21, 1933. Doris peacefully passed away surrounded by her two sons on December 28, 2025 in Greenville, NC. The service was held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11AM in St. Peter Catholic Church. Enichement followed the service in the St. Peter Catholic Church Columbarium. Doris (Dorie) grew up in Chicago, IL but spent most of her married life in Raleigh NC. Her greatest joy was her family. She was an attentive and devoted wife, mother, and doting grandmother. Dorie was an active member at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church and School in Raleigh, NC. She was a devoted and beloved "Granny" who expressed her love through cooking and baking for her family, and delighted in shopping for those she cherished most! She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and crossword puzzles. After her children were grown, Dorie worked as an Assistant in Speech Pathology and as a Master Tax Preparer for H&R Block in Raleigh, NC for 40 years. Dorie suffered a traumatic head injury and moved to Greenville, NC in 2013. She resided at Brookdale Dickinson Avenue where, though she was in recovery, continued to create a sense of home for others, joyfully helping set tables, organizing linens, and offering companionship to fellow residents and staff. "Ms. Dorie" was well loved by fellow residents and staff. Doris is survived by her son, Tim and his wife Marilu, their daughters, Melissa, her husband Grady and their son, Dawson, and Katie, her husband Mike and their son Luke; her son David and his wife Sylvia and their children, Samuel, Lauren, Joseph, and Christopher; by her grandchildren Nicholas and Liz, her husband John, and their children Lucy and Leo; and by her sister Lorraine who resides in Chicago. Doris is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jerry; her daughter Sherrie; and her brother Don. The Tulis family would like to express gratitude to those who cared for Dorie especially at Brookdale Dickinson Avenue. The Tulis family would also like to thank the caretakers and staff of Gentiva Hospice in Greenville, NC. A special thank you to the faith communities at St. Peter Catholic Church and St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Greenville, NC, and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Raleigh, NC. Thank you for keeping Dorie and her family in prayer. May our merciful Father bless you and keep you always.
