Elba Joyner

FARMVILLE - Elba Garris Joyner, 95, of Farmville, died Wednesday, July 27, 2011.
Born Jan. 20, 1916, in Pitt County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Sudie Dunn Garris. A memorial service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Church Street Chapel of the Farmville Funeral Home by Nolan Wiggins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen Stewart Joyner; a son, Owen Jason Joyner; and by ten younger brothers and sisters.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witness's in 1942. Mrs. Joyner was associated with the Farmville congregation.
Her family includes three daughters, Peggy Allen, Gloria Hathaway and husband, Dewey, of Farmville, Elaine Craddock and husband, Tom of Lithea, Fla.; son, James Stewart Joyner and wife, Gloria, of Winterville; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and a special friend and caregiver, Judy Pollard.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and other times at the home of Gloria and Dewey Hathaway, 3170 Hwy. 121 North, Farmville.
