GRIFTON - Gregory Franklin "Frankie" Whichard, 76, died Sunday, December 18, 2016.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.

Mr. Whichard was a native of Pitt County, but lived most of his life in Morehead City, NC. He worked as a welder for the NC Ports Authority, where he retired after 26 years of service. After retiring, Mr. Whichard moved back to the Pitt County area where he enjoyed sharing time with his sisters and other members of his family.

Gregory Franklin Whichard is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise Whichard; father, Julius Franklin Whichard; sister, Andrea McAdams Whichard; sons, Greg DeLong and Gregory Franklin Whichard, Jr.; wife, Geraldine Merrell Whichard; and life companion, Lou Meeks.

Survived by his: son, Jason Tyler Whichard of Danville Virginia; sisters, Hill Whichard Stancil and husband Wayne Stancil of Farmville, Louise Crouch Kean and husband Floyd Kean of Falkland, Agnes Whichard Moore and husband Johnson Moore of Rocky Mount.

Also survived by granddaughter, Crystal Gayle Delong, and nephews and nieces, Walter Stancil, Susie Mascarenhas, Burleigh Crouch III, Phoebe Crouch Barnes, Lillian Moore, Mary Beth Moore, Chad McAdams, Julius McAdams; great nephews, Joseph Chase Stancil, Joseph Crouch Barnes, Parker Reid Mascarenhas, Bryson Wayne Mascarenhas.

Additionally, Gregory is survived by two lifelong and devoted high school friends Van Jackson of Wilmington and Dorothy Hudson of Winterville.
