John Brewer Obituary
A graveside service will be held on Sunday at 3:30 PM in Pinewood Memorial Park officiated by Dr. Jerry Teboe. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2PM to 3 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of John and Tonya Brewer.
John was a native of Pitt County and was born on March 8, 1929 to the late James and Glennie Harrington Brewer. He spent part of his life in the Belvoir Community, attending school until 8th grade and the last 60 plus years in the Pactolus Community. He served in both the United States Marine Corps and the United States Army and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. John spent his life working the land including farming and gardening vegetables. He was a member of Pactolus Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Stokes Brewer in 2006 and 8 siblings, Nancy, Vivian, James, Josephine, Mary Lou, Ray, Alene and Willie Jordan.
He is survived by: Daughters, Brenda Brewer Peaden and Cecilia Brewer Hardee; Son, John Kelvin Brewer and wife, Tonya; Son-in-law, Terry Peaden; Grandchildren, Justin Tanner Peaden and wife, Jacklyn, Taylor Wayne Peaden and wife, Megan, Ginger Michelle Hardee, Chase Toby Hardee and wife, Shelby, Corey Todd Brewer,
Hunter Andrew Pardue and Gino; Great-grandchildren, Jackson Peaden, Hunter Peaden, Layla Hardee, Tenley Hardee, Brooklyn Brewer, Reagan Powell, Justin Powell, and Tucker Peaden.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the love and care extended to Mr. John by the staff at Gentiva Hospice, Action Health Staffing and Silvercare.
