NEWPORT NEWS - Mr. Lester Wells of Newport News, Va. passed away January 23, 2018.

Lester is survived by his mother, Alberta Logan of Philadelphia, PA; sons, Kip Johnson (Monica) of Providence Forge, Va., Shaun Bowman of Philadelphia, Pa.; adopted brothers, Fred E. Morgan, Jr. of Fountain, NC, Avon Morgan (Debbie) of Champaign, Illinois, Terry Morgan (Molly) of Champaign, Illinois; adopted sisters, Dianne Morgan of Fountain, NC, Girther (Donald) Willoughby of Farmville, NC, Gayle Morgan of Greenville, NC, Phyllistine (Curtis) Cummings, of Greenville, NC, Doris Carlene Morgan of New York, NY, Monica(Karl) Joyner of Tarboro, NC; special nephew, Barry (Kathleen) Gay of Fayetteville, GA.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Febuary 2, 2018 at 11:00 am at Colossians Baptist Church, 856 Old Ft. Eustis Blvd., Newport News, Va. 23608. Viewing, 10am- 11am at the church.

Deacon Wells was a faithful servant to the Colossian Baptist Church in the Single Ministry, Missionary Ministry and wherever he was needed. His spirit of caring and love for his fellow Christian brothers and sisters will forever be remembered through the years!!! It was a pleasure to know him!!!!!!! Blessings and prayers to the family

There are not enough words to express the heartfelt sympathy I have for you, the family of Lester Wells. My memories include the friendship, strength, compassion, humor,unconditional love and prayerful spirit that he exuded consistently.
We were hired at Amtrak's reservation call center in Pennsylvania on the same day over 40 years ago and remained good friends throughout our work experience. Nothing meant more to him than his family, friends, mentoring and church. All of which he spoke often.
He will be sorely missed but I know in my heart that his joy, his unique laugh and his style in his perfected health is in the presence of the glory of The Lord in heaven! Hallelujah!
