Margaret Holmes Haddock

CHOCOWINITY - Mrs. Margaret Holmes Haddock, 85, passed away on Friday, February 15, 2019.

The funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 4PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Manning officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

A native of Wayne County, Mrs. Haddock was a 1951 graduate of LaGrange High School. In 1955, she married William Cleveland "Bill" Haddock and they first made their home in Kinston and then Greenville. She worked as a Bookkeeper and Interior Decorator for Tommie Willis Interiors for 20 years. Later they moved to Morehead City where she was an active member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She served as Treasurer for more than 17 years and enjoyed cooking meals and serving others at the church. She was a previous member of Maranatha Free Will Baptist Church was currently a member of Unity Church in Greenville.

Mrs. Haddock was very creative in nature and greatly enjoyed her interior decorating including making curtains for many friends. She enjoyed volunteering, reading and solving word search puzzles, spending time with family including time with her grandchildren and her beloved church family. Loving and caring by nature, Mrs. Haddock always put others before herself. She served her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and pointed others to Him. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she will be greatly missed by the many who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Haddock was preceded in death by her parents, Nerius and Naomi Johnson Holmes, 2 sisters, 1 brother and several special in-laws.

She is survived by: Husband of 63 years, William Cleveland "Bill" Haddock; Daughter, Anne H. Keene and husband, Brenan, of Greenville; Grandchildren, Wesley B. Keene and wife, Morgan, of Fort Benning, GA and Hannah K. Keene of Greenville; Sisters, Elaine Tyndall, and Fay Letchworth, both of LaGrange and Brenda Strickland of Kinston; Brothers, Royce Holmes and wife, Elsie and Gerald Holmes and wife, Nell, all of LaGrange; Sister-in-law, Virginia Holmes; Special cousins, Dean Johnson and wife, Edna, and Bryce Johnson and wife, Nelda, all of LaGrange; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 PM prior to the funeral at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
