Marjorie Harris Obituary

Marjorie (Carmack) Harris Grifton - Marjorie Carmack Harris, 89, passed away on Monday, June 12, 2023, at ECU Health Medical Center. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday at 2 pm at the First Christian Church in Grifton, NC. Burial will follow in Grifton Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service at the home, 6733 N Highland Ave, Grifton NC.

Marjorie was born November 13, 1933, in Richlands, NC to the late Raymond Pollock Carmack and Rochie Phillips Carmack. She was a graduate of East Carolina University and a faithful member of the First Christian Church where she served as Elder Emeritus, Chairman of Church Board, Chairman of Memorial Committee, member of CWF and sang in the church choir.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Gray Harris; sisters, Esther Hunter, Edna Huffman, Mavis Jarman and Martha Price; and brothers, Raymond, Kenneth and Everette Carmack.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Deborah Parker of Grifton and husband, Richard; son, Gray Harris of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jodie Berry and husband John, Casey Parker and wife, Amber; great-grandchildren, Mason and McCray Parker, Conner, Holden and Chase Berry; and a sister, Sarah Rhodes of Richlands NC

In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, PO Box 25, Grifton, NC 28530.
