Robert "Bob" Mills Obituary
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park, 4150 E. 10th St., Greenville.
Mr. Mills was born in Statesville, N.C., on Oct. 18, 1927, to Edith Wilson Mills and Robert Lathan Mills, who predeceased him. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Dillard Mills; a son, Robert Lathan Mills III, and his wife, Lisa Priestley Mills, of Eden, N.C.; a daughter, Katherine Mills Owen, and her husband, Carleton Dean Owen, of Winterville. Mr. Mills is also survived by four grandchildren: Corey Mills, Meredith Mills, Payton Mills and Blake Owen.
Mr. Mills served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army during peace time after World War II and was a 1950 graduate of the University of Virginia. He spent 36 years in the tobacco industry, retiring from Carolina Leaf Tobacco Co. as executive vice president. He was an active member of Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir.
The family will receive friends at the residence from 4-7 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013.
Memorial contributions may be made to Jarvis Memorial United Methodist Church, 510 S. Washington St., Greenville, NC 27834 or Service League of Greenville Inpatient Hospice, 920 Wellness Drive, Greenville, NC 27834.

Bob was a wonderful guy. He never failed to greet me with a smile and a warm hand shake. i will miss his baritone voice anchoring the choir.

Although only a part time neighbors for these past 7 years, it was always a pleasure to see Bob. Mary Dillard, unfortunately we can not be in Greenville until later this week but our hearts and thoughts are with you during this time of loss.
