Steve VanCleave Obituary

Steve Van Cleave Winterville - Steve Van Cleave, 70, passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023.

The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday at 11 am at People's Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial is private.

Steve, a native of Indiana, was a graduate of Purdue University with a degree in fish and wildlife and worked as a Game Warden. He taught at several schools in Jacksonville, FL and after moving to Greenville, NC, he taught at Greenville Christian Academy. While in Greenville he met his wife, Mary Blizzard. He worked at ECU School of Medicine and later with a pharmaceutical company, retiring in 2019. He loved to fish, watch movies and sports, especially the Atlanta Braves, ECU and Purdue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Susie Van Cleave; and a brother, Jim Van Cleave.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Blizzard Van Cleave; daughters, Jennifer Gillen (Daniel) of Wilson, and Katherine Burcham (John) of Ayden; grandchildren, Caleb and Sam Gillen, and Lily and Katy Burcham; brother, Edward Van Cleave (Diane) of Greenwood, IN; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to People's Baptist Church, 1621 Greenville Blvd, SW, Greenville, NC 27834.
