GREENVILLE - Mrs. Sybil Worthington Hardee, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 06, 2018.

The funeral will be held on Sunday at 1:30 PM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with Revs. Phillip Boykin and Worth Forbes officiating. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.

Sybil was native of Pitt County and was born to the late Conwell and Cassie Moore Worthington. She lived her early years in the McGowans Crossroads Community and was a graduate of the Chicod School. In 1958, she married the love of her life, Lloyd Ray Hardee and they enjoyed 59 years of a wonderful marriage together. Sybil was quite an accomplished cook and worked for more than 50 years including many years at Biggs Drug Store and Courtside Cafe. She was a member of Black Jack Free Will Baptist Church.

Sybil will be fondly remembered for her loving nature and kind smile. She greatly enjoyed helping others and formed many lifelong friendships through her cookies, cakes and good home cooking. Of special memories to Sybil were serving the Coffee Club for countless years, joining the Lunch Bunch on Mondays for many years, and walking with her group at the Plaza Mall which she greatly enjoyed. In addition to her work, Sybil loved her grandchildren and spending time with family. Her customers were like family too and she will be greatly missed by the many that knew and loved her.

She is survived by: her daughters, Connie Hardee Bland and husband, Raleigh, of Greenville and Amy Hardee Adkins and husband, Carter, of Simpson; grandchildren, Nicole and Paige Adkins of Simpson and Webster Bland of Greenville, brother, Conwell Worthington and wife, Mille, of Orange, CA; nephew, Conwell Worthington and wife, Anjali Suniti, of Waltham, MA. and a number of loving extended family members and special friends.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5 to 7 PM at Wilkerson Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Connie and Raleigh Bland.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Mrs. Sybil and Mr. Lloyd. I remember seeing them often at Trinity during parent pick up. They were always encouraging and smiling. They were a blessing to so many. Rest in Peace My Friend , I would See Mrs. Sybil walking in the Greenville Mall morning, and she would Smile and Speak.One Day Walking with Her and She telling me she had cooked a cake, and she was going to Package it and send it to her Brother in California. she love to cook and Bake. she will be missed.
