I am proud to have met Mr. Doub at one of their VPB-106 Navy reunions with my dad Durwood kelly. All these men in that squadron and all the armed services, then and now, are REAL HEROES who served their country faithfully and proudly.

Ward was a great friend, shipmate and buddy during our tour of duty as pilots with Navy Squadron VPB 106 in the south Pacific. Our bond together will never be broken. Ward served his country, his squadron and his family in the highest tradition of the Navy.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. and Mrs. Doub when I was in college with Leigh Ann at ECU and to visit with them in their home. I happened to see Mr. Doub's obituary in The Daily Reflector online today. Again I am sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of flying with Ward for most of my early years with Piedmont. He was not only a kind and good gentleman, but had a wonderful sense of humor. My deepest sympathy to the family.

Capt. Ward was a good man, good pilot, and good friend to everyone. I didn't get to fly but one trip with him but that was a very nice trip altho it was a Charter to some place I has never been and havn't been there since. He made it very enjoyable. We will miss you. I know the Angels in Heaven will all bid your trips. So long friend.

I flew my very first trip as a Piedmont Airlines Flight Attendant on 5/1/1974 with Captain Doub. The excitement of that first trip is a memory that never fades. My deepest sympathy to his family.

Uncle Ward will be missed by many. I was always fascinated by his boyhood stories and appreciate the interest he took in my baseball playing days.
