Charlie C. Dortch

1939 - 2016

GALESBURG - Charlie C. Dortch, 76, of Galesburg, died at 10:14 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2016, at Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Parkdale, Arkansas, the son of Cleveland and Ethel Pugh Dortch. He married Karen S. Pulse in Galesburg on Dec. 13, 1997. She survives.
Also surviving are his two sons, Clevon Dortch of Galesburg and Otis Lee Dortch of Monmouth; four daughters, Dorothy Marie Pulse and Denise Jane Jackson, both of Galesburg, Carolyn Burns of Arkansas, and Betty Thompson of Chicago; his one brother, Leroy Dortch of Chicago; his five sisters, Stella Watkins of Parkdale, Arkansas, Rosie Thomas of Chicago, Lucinda Coleman of Parkdale, Beulah Dortch of Galesburg and Ethel Mae Campbell of Parkdale; a host grandchildren, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charlie Dortch Jr.; a daughter, Amy Lynn Pulse; two sisters, Mazie Lee Cobbs and Ellen Davidson; and two brothers, Clauzell and Lee Morris Dortch.
Charlie had worked for Maytag Corporation, Butler Manufacturing and BNSF. He most recently was self-employed. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Charlie loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016, at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with graveside services to follow at East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be at www.h-p-w.com.
