Dennis Shepherd Obituary
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frankie and Norah Shepherd of Avon. Dennis married Sylvia Saul in 1978 and they share three sons.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Shepherd; his sons, Adam of Galesburg, Drew (Mackenzie) of Clear Water, Florida, and Aaron (Brittney) of Galesburg; and seven grandchildren.
He attended and graduated from Avon High School in 1970 and Carl Sandburg College where he studied criminal justice.
Dennis was an investigator and patrol man for the Galesburg Police Department, retiring after 26 years of service in December 2002.
He enjoyed time at the police range and riding his Harley motorcycle, along with spending time with family cheering on the Bears and the Cubs.
Cremation was accorded per his wishes. A private family service was on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2017. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to a charity of the donor's choice.
