Galesburg - Mrs. Janet "Katie" Peyton, 69, of Galesburg, passed away in her home on March 30, 2021.
Janet was born to Willie and Della June (Simmons) Lewis on May 20, 1951 in Galesburg. She married Melvin Peyton, he precedes her in death.
Janet is survived by her siblings James Lewis, William Lewis, Diane Lewis, and Veronica Peoples, her three daughters Stephanie Beamon, Danielle Lewis, and Nikki Lewis, her grandchildren Terrance, Terrick, Kaylin, Tierra, Calvin, Trustin, Darius, Da*vaun, and Cole and eight great-grandchildren and her special friend Anthony Williams. She is preceded by her parents, her husband Melvin, her son Jason Lewis, her sister Sandra Gordon, a grandson Jason Lewis a nephew Shaun Lewis, and her best friend Shelly Williams.
Janet was well known for her bartending skills at Andrew's Lounge in Galesburg having worked there for several years, along with working at Seminary Manor assisting in the care of many of their residents alongside her daughters. In her free time Janet loved to play cards with friends, try her hand at the lottery, and go shopping for clothes and other accessories.
Cremation will be accorded as per Janet's wishes. A visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 pm on Monday, April 5, 2021 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Directors and Cremation Service Galesburg Chapel. Memorials may be made to the family.
