Ophiem - Katie J. Ackerson, 15, of Ophiem, IL, died Wednesday August 25, 2021 in Galesburg, IL. Graveside services are 11:00 AM Monday August 30, 2021 at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Ophiem. Visitation is from 2-4 PM Sunday at the Peterson Wallin Knox Funeral Home in Alpha. The family will not be present. A memorial fund will be established to be used for charities. She was born June 25, 2006 in Moline, IL to Michael and Julie Taflinger Ackerson. She was a freshman at AlWood High School and full of spunk. Like most kids, Katie enjoyed TikTok, Instagram and Snapchat. She loved to swim and 4 wheel as well as spend time with her friends and family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her parents, Julie (Tom Boyd) Ackerson of Galesburg, Mike (Christine Dolan) Ackerson of Ophiem, 3 brothers, Michael (Ashley) Ackerson of Woodhull, IL, Justin (Trisha) Ackerson of New Windsor, IL, Jim Ackerson of Ophiem, maternal grandfather, Keith (Lori) Taflinger of Roseville, IL, 1 aunt, Amy (Kevin Nichols) Wilson of Woodhull, 3 uncles, Brad (Darlene) Taflinger of Rock Island, IL, Allan Ackerson of Colorado Springs, CO, William "Brad" (Susan) Ackerson of Arcadia, Kansas, 2 nieces, 2 nephews, special cousins Natalie, Gage, and Hunter and Tom Boyd's parents Jim and Dorie Boyd of Galesburg.
Her grandparents, Linda and Bud Wilson, George and Bertdell Ackerson, 1 brother, Edward Allen, 3 uncles, George, James and Tom Ackerson preceded her in death.
