Lloyd Kemp Obituary
He was born February 16, 1949, in Galesburg the son of Robert E. and Cora Adelina Hurley Kemp. He married Karen Whitacre on June 3, 1972, in Galesburg.
He is survived by his three sons, Daniel L. (Amanda) Kemp of Galesburg, Nicholas (Hilary) Curtis of Oneida, and Butch (Tammy Mellentin) Curtis of Galesburg; his daughter, Sherry (David) Rhoades of Oquawka; one brother, Russell (Beverly) Kemp of Knoxville; and two sisters, Rosemary (Jim) Robertson of Henderson, and Beverly (John) Yarde of Alexis; 10 grandchildren and his companion of over 26 years, Kim Curtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and one sister.
Butch worked as a mechanic for several years, last working for Mid-State Manufacturing. He retired in 2011. His passion was stock car racing.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at East Linwood Cemetery. Rev. Jon Sibley will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
