Mervin Wallace Obituary
Mervin was born Feb. 13, 1929, in St. Augustine, the son of Russell and H. Elizabeth (Walker) Wallace. He married Gwen J. (Ballard) on March 11, 1951, in Kewanee. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Vicky (Bob) Heron of Willis, Texas and Debbie (Jon) Wyant of Toulon; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene Wallace of Galva. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Edwin, and Robert Wallace
Mervin attended Victoria High School graduating in 1946. Mervin was a member of the Galva National Guard and was called to serve in the United States Army and spent a year in the Korean Conflict. He drove trucks for various companies and was Goshen Township Road Commissioner from 1979 to 1983. Mervin started to farm in 1959 and bought the family farm in Toulon in 1967. He loved camping and boating with his family and riding his motorcycle. In 1984 he began traveling to Arizona for the winter in his motorhome, where he enjoyed many friends and his wife's music and jam sessions. Mervin was a blessing to many as he was a tissue donor. He will be forever in our hearts!
Visitation will be 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, 2019, at Haskell Funeral & Cremation Services in Toulon. A reception will follow the visitation at Toulon Fire Department. Burial will be in Toulon Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Toulon Fire Department. Condolences may be left for Mervin's family on his tribute wall at www.haskellfuneral.com.
