Robert Royce Obituary

GALESBURG - Robert Rolland Royce, 86, Galesburg, died at 1:22 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at the Knox County Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Knoxville.
He was born Oct. 7, 1923, in Galesburg, the son of Loyd and Lois Pauline Ross Royce.
Surviving are his special friends, Phillip Malcolm of Galesburg and Damaris Horn of Galesburg.
He was reared and educated in Galesburg, graduating from Galesburg High School.
He lived in Galesburg all of his life.
He was a mail contractor, delivering mail in rural Knox County Area for 57 years.
He enjoyed trap shooting, was a member of the Amateur Trap Shooting Association and was the Illinois State Singles Trap Shooting Champion in 1973. He was a member of the Galesburg Motorcycle Club, and the American Motorcycle Association. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Homes & Crematory in Knoxville. There will be no funeral service. Cremation rites will be accorded. Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Motorcycle Club. Online condolences may be left at and sympathy cards sent through www.hurd-hendricksfuneralhomes.com.
