Monmouth - Roger C. Burgland, 64, of Monmouth, IL passed away at 6:36 pm, on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria, IL. Roger was born November 18, 1956 in Monmouth, IL the son of Jack L. and Beulah M. (Galusha) Burgland. He was raised and educated in rural Kirkwood, IL, graduating from Yorkwood High School in 1975. Roger married Linda Conn. He later married Jean Ann Stewart in Monmouth, IL. He loved working with his Dad on the Burgland Family farm as well as working on the Russ Jensen Farm. Roger later worked as an Engineer for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad for 17 years which he loved. He enjoyed athletics and animals. He also enjoyed playing softball, coaching basketball and mushroom hunting. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always up for visiting with his friends and drinking coffee. Survivors include his children, Josh (Lindsey) Burgland of Clinton, IA, Trevor Burgland, Melanie Cohill, and Ali (Matt) Lantz all of Monmouth; grandchildren, Riley Burgland, Jace Burgland, Alice Cohill, Maddox Cohill, Meadow Cohill, Arrow Lantz and Dove Lantz; his sister, Lisa Moyer of Galesburg, IL; special friend, Christine Boone of Monmouth, IL; his aunt, Mildred Galusha of Kirkwood, IL; numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Cremation has been accorded. A Celebration of Roger's Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Western Illinois Animal Rescue and sent to the funeral home. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, IL. is in charge of the arrangements.
