Ruth Gibson Obituary

Ruth L. Gibson, 90, of Stronghurst passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 7:45 a.m. at the Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst.
She was born June 10, 1922, in Roseville, the daughter of Homer and Nola Wainman Canfield. She married Dean T. Gibson on Dec. 20, 1941, in Kahoka, Mich. He preceded her on Nov. 29, 1992.
She is survived by six daughters, Donna Smith of Shelbina, Mo., Sharon Banta of Oquawka, Jo Burk of Winchester, Geri Kistler of Victoria, Diana Hargrove of Moberly, Mo., and Cindy Dowdy of Cullman, Ala.; 17 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; 50 great-great grandchildren; and one brother, William Canfield of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister, and two grandsons.
She worked at Burlington Ordinance Plant and worked at Campbell Chain. She had a ceramic shop in Oquawka. She was a member of the Oquawka Eagles Club. She and her husband loved to Square Dance.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at the Corman Memorial Home in Roseville. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Oquawka Cemetery, Oquawka.
