Shirley Jensen Obituary

MONMOUTH - Shirley I. Jensen, 88, Monmouth, died at 6:26 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26, 2020, at Seminary Manor, Galesburg.

Shirley was born Oct. 26, 1932, in Monmouth, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Mary Margaret (Carbaugh) Speck. She was raised and educated in Monmouth.

Shirley married Lorence G. Jensen in Texas on Jan. 31, 1951, and he died March 3, 2015.

Shirley was a member of Gerlaw Christian Church. She enjoyed baking, her garden and canning. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.

Survivors include her daughter, Gail (Rob) Loquist of Monmouth; son, Larry (Kelly) Jensen of Galesburg; four grandchildren, Brian Loquist, Abbey (Russ) Tappenbeck, Brennan Jensen and Michael Jensen; four great-grandchildren, Luke Loquist, Cameron Tappenbeck, Alayna Tappenbeck and Ellari Jensen; and one sister, Carolyn Stalder of Dallas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lorence Jensen; three brothers; and three sisters.

Cremation has been accorded. A private family burial of ashes will be at Warren County Memorial Park. A memorial fund has been established to be designated later. McGuire & Davies Funeral Home and Crematory, Monmouth, is in charge of the arrangements.
