He was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Oelwein, Iowa, to the late Earl Foster and Inez Borland Parsons. He married his much beloved wife Patricia A. Alcorn on April 17, 1971, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are his cherished daughter Allison Parsons of Peoria; brother Jeffrey (Joan) Parsons of Pensacola, Florida; and several close cousins and their families.

Steve graduated from Galesburg High School and Bradley University with a degree in automotive engineering. After graduating from Bradley, he worked as a service representative for American Motors in Chicago for a short time. In 1965, be began working as a technician at Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mossville, retiring in 2002.

He was a member of Sports Car Club of America, the Heart of Illinois Sports Car Club, SAAB Club and the AMC Rambler Club. Steve was a man of many interests, including traveling, sailing, cars, autocross events, hill climb events, car shows, motorcycles, photography, going to estate sales, and collecting various old toys. He especially took pride in his Lionel train set from his childhood days. He loved nature and all animals great and small. He cherished his many sweet dogs over the years, and Perry, their 45-year-old box turtle.

I grew up living next door to Steve and he was the best neighbor anyone could ask for. Steve was kind, thoughtful, caring, and the first to offer you help. Steve will be dearly missed by myself and my family. We are grateful that we were able to know him for many years.
