Caroline Franz
Caroline (Olszanski) Franz, age 91, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2021 at Sharon Healthcare Center in Sharon, CT.
Caroline was born on June 14, 1930 in Winsted, CT, to the late Anthony and Blanche Olszanski of Winsted.
In the earlier years Caroline worked at Winsted Hardware Co., where she met her husband, the late Robert Franz (2001) and married on May 3, 1952. Later, Caroline worked at Winsted Precision Ball Corp where she retired.
Caroline enjoyed being able to put a smile on someone's face. She told jokes and funny stories; snort-laughing at the good ones. Dancing (Polkas), duckpin bowling, playing cards and horse racing were some of her favorite activities. She loved socializing with family and friends, treating everyone as a special guest and always ready to put more food on your plate or top off your favorite beverage. Caroline loved to help others--lending a helping hand, offering a heartfelt hug, or just listening to someone in need with kindness, compassion, and warmth.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas Olszanski, Theodore Olszanski, John Olszanski, all of Winsted, Albert Olszanski of Escondido, CA and sisters Agnes Sterpka of Winsted and Pauline Karpinski of Torrington.
Caroline leaves behind her children: Marie Vazquez, her husband Henry and grandson Michael of Colorado Springs, CO; her son, Edward Franz and wife Machelle of Panama City Beach, FL and her son, Eric Franz and wife Robin of Denver, NC and goddaughters, Shirley Karpinski of Torrington and Sandy Ayotte, Granby.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staffs at Geer Nursing and Rehab and Sharon Healthcare Center for all the love, care and compassion shown to Caroline during her stay.

My Aunt Carol was more like a sister to me being only 10 years apart in age. She was one of the most uplifting people in my life and always tried to bring happiness to everyone she encountered. I will truly miss talking to her on the phone or having lunch somewhere, especially if they served shrimp cocktail. She was a joy and I loved her! Love, Sandy
